Spring Cleaning

Fri 19 December 2014

Sheldon has a crack squad of cleaners who dive in with buckets, mops, feather dusters and polish between each guest booking. You'd be surprised to discover how many special cupboards there are around Sheldon with cleaning materials, equipment, linen, towels and other supplies. The cleaning team are known as the Red Army because they wear red pinnys and are a force to be reckoned with. Sometimes there is plenty of time to do a changeover, but sometimes we have just 2 hours on a Sunday between a group leaving at 4pm and one of our own events starting at 6pm. That requires a well trained team to turn the place round in double quick time. Guests often comment on how well the place is cleaned and maintained and this is certainly what we aim for. However, with the best will in the world it's not possible (or necessary) to do a deep clean every week. So December and January are the times when we take accommodation out of use for everything from washing curtains, professional deep clean of carpets, redecoration etc. This year we will also be replacing some armchairs and sofas. All the linen is sorted and either repaired or replaced as necessary.  The fire alarm, fire appliance and emergency light systems will all have their annual checks. By the time we get to Candlemas the whole place will be glowing ready for another year of service.
